Bastar Olympics: – a multi-sport competition is being organised by Chhattisgarh govt, specifically for its tribal youth. It will be held from 5-10 November 24.

So far, registration figures have crossed the one-lakh mark. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai proudly stated, “Excitement can be seen among the youth, with a staggering 165,000 young people enlisting to participate in the games. This widespread engagement underscores the local population’s eagerness to connect with developmental initiatives and foster a peaceful environment.”

Competitions will span 11 sports disciplines, including athletics, archery, and football, with special provisions for disabled persons and surrendered Naxalites, ensuring inclusive participation. Winners at the divisional level will earn the title of youth icons, serving as inspirations for their peers. The meticulous planning and inclusive vision of Bastar Olympics 2024 are geared towards uniting Bastar’s youth under the banner of progress and development, reinforcing their role in the broader societal framework.

On Saturday, Vishnu Deo Sai unveiled the logo and mascot for the event. The unveiling marked the beginning of an ambitious initiative organised by the Home Department in collaboration with the Sports and Youth Welfare Department. The Chief Minister held a virtual meeting to assess the preparations, instructing that arrangements for participants’ accommodation, food, security, and healthcare be meticulously planned. Shri Sai expressed pride in the substantial progress towards peace in Bastar over the past months, supported by the central government.

The Bastar Olympics 2024 logo and mascot have been thoughtfully designed to resonate with Bastar’s rich cultural heritage. The logo features the traditional musical instrument ‘Turhi’, flanked by sports symbols, encapsulating a blend of tradition and modernity. The slogan ‘Karsay ta Bastar Barsay ta Bastar’, meaning ‘Bastar will play, Bastar will grow’, reflects local aspirations.

The mascot creatively represents the Forest Buffalo and Hill Myna, embodying the state’s fauna while promoting wildlife conservation.
